When To Hire a Social Media or SEO Expert

Introductory Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Marketing, are duties that can be handled in-house; by most Internet savvy entrepreneurs. However, business owners must accept, that there are no overnight profits to be made; and little chance of a short-term plan, having a measurable effect. To succeed in Social Media marketing and SEO, businesses must be prepared to invest time into years of aggressive campaigns; and proactive planning.

For the online entrepreneur that is unfamiliar with Social Media marketing and SEO, a consultant should be hired to assist with the development and implementation of dependable digital PR services; very early in the campaign. There is a greater chance of long-term prosperity and success if the:

  1. Internet Marketing consultant or SEO expert is properly briefed on all aspects of the business’ online endeavors/marketing goals, and
  2. Business owners and employees are involved in every step of the decision making process.

With that being said, SEO and Social Media marketing should be taken on internally; whenever possible. This is especially true for small business owners, who know their business better than anyone; and can’t afford time or money to educate others. In this case, it is highly beneficial, to develop marketing strategies internally; then hire a Search Engine Marketing firm (or mentor) to implement them. This approach can relieve much of the time-consuming research, and arduous legwork.
